Stem Cell Therapy: A Medical Breakthrough That Changes Lives

Stem Cell Therapy-- which was once just a theory, is now a current and a much talked about medical breakthrough that is being put into practice to serve mankind. Individuals who suffer from complex ailments of the heart, liver and nerves, can now live longer and stronger than ever.

So what are stem cells? They are the body’s master cells which have the potential to differentiate to form the specialized tissues and organs such as the internal organs, blood, bones and skin. The adult stem cells help to improve the lives of patients with cardiac diseases (Acute Myocardial Infarction, Ischemic Cardiomyopathy), central nervous system diseases (stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries), Digestive system diseases (liver failure, pancreatitis) and others (hair regrowth, skin-aesthetic and anti-aging, diabetes).

In Korea, clinical trials on the stem cell therapy products had initiated since the year 2007. The nation already benefits from approved uses of stem cell medicines: HeartiCellgram-AMI approved in July 2011, Cartistem and Cupistem approved in January 2012 by the South Korean Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In the year 2012, 33 billion won (US $ 29 million) has been invested for research into stem cells and regenerative medicine, which is four times more than that given in 2011.

The medicine HeartiCellgram-AMI, the world’s first stem cell therapeutics has been developed in collaboration with The Line Plastic Surgical Clinic’s highly researched technical know-how on stem cells. It has taken 10 years of ceaseless study and clinical results in the making.
