Breast Care Center

The Breast Care Center has established a one-stop examination and treatment system, where all departments related to breast disorders are gathered so that patients can comfortably receive examination and treatment service in one place.

Doctors and professional nurses from related professional departments including the Department of Surgery, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Radiology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Division of Psychiatric Oncology serve fast examination and perform tailored treatment and rehabilitation service to each patient.

The center performs over 1,200 breast cancer surgeries per year, with the total number of its breast cancer surgeries amounting to 10,000 in 2011.

In addition, the results of its treatment are at the highest international level, with the average 5-year survival rate amounting to 91.9%.

In fact, this figure far surpasses the survival rate in the United States (89.2%).

Not only as the leading hospital in performing multicenter clinical trials, through world-class research and academic accomplishments such as the discovery of new diagnostic biomarkers of breast cancer and genes liable to lead to the outbreak of breast cancer, the center leads the development of new technology for diagnosing and treating breast cancer.

Likewise, it operates excellent programs in the postoperative management and education of patients and leads the provision of support to breast cancer patients and the enhancement of public awareness of breast cancer by forming close ties with Korea Venus (breast cancer patient society) and the pink ribbon campaign.
