The Samsung Medical Center was founded 1994 to improve the lives of people in the society.
Awards and Achievements: In 2014 SMC was ranked 1st in (2014 Super Brand) in the sector of hospital for 4 consecutive years organized by the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies. The same year it was ranked 1st in KSI (Korea Sustainability Index) organized by the Korea Economic Daily. Moreover in 2012 the hospital was ranked first for the ninth consecutive year in the hospital category for the 14th Korea Brand Stars, organized by Brand Stock and sponsored by Hankyung and The JoongAng Ilbo.
Medical Staffs: SMC is a tertiary hospital manned by approximately 7,400 staff including over 1,200 doctors, 2,300 nurses, 127 Pharmacists, and 812 Medical Technician.

Infrastructure: The Samsung Medical Center consists of a hospital and a cancer center. The hospital building is designed with floor space of more than 200,000 square meters and 20 floors aboveground and 5 floors underground, housing 40 departments, 10 specialist centers, 120 special clinics, and 1,327beds. On the other hand, the 655-bed Cancer Center has 11 floors aboveground and 8 floors underground, with floor space of over 100,000 square meters.
Other Activities and Contributions: SMC’s healthcare support team of 13 physicians engaged in volunteer activities in India in 2013.
