National Cancer Center was founded in 2000 and ever since it has strived to assist in conducting and offering assistance to cancer research, diagnosing and treating cancer patients across Korea.


Awards and Achievements: As part of activating multi-center clinical research, the Ministry of Health & Welfare designated NCC as the Clinical Research Center for Solid Tumors (CRCST) in 2004.


Medical Staffs: NCC is staffed by research specialists ranging from medical, surgical, radiological oncologists to oncology nurses, technologists, and other support staffs; in this team there are 51 medical doctors, 541 nurses, 191 medical technologists and 23 pharmacists.


Centers and Departments: Gastric Cancer, Liver Cancer, Lung Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Breast Cancer, Uterine Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Pediatric Cancer, Hematologic Oncology, Head & Neck Oncology, Neuro-oncology, Orthopedic Oncology, and Oral Oncology.


Infrastructure: The cancer Hospital is built on an area of 43,955m². It includes an underground parking lot, a research building which is 7-storey tall, a hospital building 10-storey tall with a 520 bed capacity, a Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Center Building 12-storey along with the Administration Building. Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as colonoscopy, endoscopy, 64 channel CT, PET/CT and 3T MR.


Other Activities and Contributions: The NCC is aggressively backing the government's 2nd "10-year Cancer Control Plan (2006)" by devising cancer control policies, promoting cancer research in Korea, and by strengthening the cooperative network forged between Korean cancer-specialized medical institutions and international organizations. It also strives to promote basic and clinical research on cancer by providing medical care services for cancer patients. They also provide consulting services to other medical institutions specializing in cancer not only in Korea but also around the Globe.


Location: The National Cancer Center is easily accessible from Incheon International Airport and Seoul, being located in the center of Ilsan New Town.
